1Daikoku Parking Area大黒パーキングエリア

“Daikoku yaki” (¥300) is made from pork and other ingredients flavored with Chinese seasoning that are wrapped in chewy breading and fried.

Boasts of being the largest parking area on the Metropolitan Expressway. The view of the surrounding loop-shaped junction ramps makes this location emblematic. Among the array of restaurants and shops is a take-out snack corner where authentic Chinese-style steamed pork buns (“chuka-man”) and other specialty foods of Yokohama are popular with visitors.

At these shops you can find specialty goods as well as souvenirs related to Chinatown.
Impressive entrance and exit ramps surround the entire parking area.

2Shin-Yokohama Ramen Museum 新横浜ラーメン博物館

Street-vendor stalls and candy shops line the reproduction of an ordinary street in 1958 Japan, providing a retro atmosphere.

A “food amusement park ” comprised of famous ramen shops from all over Japan. Deciding where to start can be a challenge as each shop, famous in its own region, brings its own unique flavor. There is also a plaza where performances and other events are held.

There are nine ramen shops to choose from. Try different ones and compare!

3Yokohama Chinatown横浜中華街

The largest Chinatown in East Asia. You can enjoy a spectacular variety of authentic Chinese food-Cantonese, Mandarin, Shanghai and Sichuan cuisines, as well as dim sum.

After Yokohama opened its port in 1859, many Chinese people began visiting and living in the city. As a result, there are currently over 500 Chinese establishments, mainly restaurants, in this part of Yokohama. On the north, south, east and west gates to Chinatown, you can find animal carvings with religious significance. Why don’t you try to spot them?

4Sankeien Garden三溪園

Inside the garden, a tea ceremony room called“ Bototei” offers a type of Japanese tea (maccha), as well as sweet bean-filled confections (rakugan) made in Kyoto, for ¥500. Packs of the sweets suitable for giving as gifts are available for ¥600 (9 per pack).

This Japanese garden, created by Yokohama businessman and tea-ceremony devotee Sankei Hara, opened to the general public in 1906. Spanning nearly 180,000 square meters, its vast rolling hills are dotted with structures of historical significance that were moved here from Kyoto, Kamakura and other cities, including a three-story pagoda.

In this building, walls, doors and room dividers are decorated with traditional artwork.
